I'm not bad at reflecting on the fly, it's an innate habit (probably because of my job) that constantly has me pausing, looking back, assessing, and taking action. I'm probably not that used to looking back on a larger scale (i.e a calendar year). I thought it would be an interesting thing to do.
January:
February: broke my thumb, besties got married, started teaching in the class again
March: ARd Super Rugby Aupiki (Taupo & Hamilton), started CrossFit
April: 10th Wedding Anniversary
May: Teaching job changed started Structured Literacy Intervention, First Prem game
June: PAC4, got COVID, Maxwell died
July: Southland Sports Awards, Rugby Final, FPC started (Alex, New Plymouth, Dunedin)
August: Griffon died, FPC(Dunedin, Wellington, Counties). Appointed FPC semi final
September: broke ankle (no semi final). Sideline Manager for final (Balclutha)
October: Sideline Manager RWC21(Whangarei), Melbourne trip (Hamilton and HP Cursed Child)
November: Replacement controller Bronze Final RWC21 (Eden Park), got Bowie
December: Community Refereeing Workshop (Auckland), Got Betty
These are all things that were just me: add in a husband and a pre-schooler and no wonder I'm feeling a little bit tired these holidays 😅
A year is just a year. Not good, not bad, it just is. (So no "bye 2022 you've been shit" comments from me) but it is a useful measure of time to do a bigger picture reflection while head down and hustling. I don't even have a word of the year yet. I just need to keep doing what I'm doing, staying consistent, and not freak out about how long this ankle rehab is taking.
