Elsea the Mermaid

Deep under the sea in the land of Jold

Lived Elsea the mermaid with locks of gold.

Her eyes so blue and her tail so strong

She wiggled and boogied to every song.

You see Elsea was pretty, and she was clever

She could shimmy, she could shake, she could dance forever.

She had rhythm and style, she had rhythm and grace

She could dance and boogie at a speedy pace.

The music boomed out from a musical pearl

It surrounded Elsea and helped her to twirl

Smiles erupted from each girl and boy

Elsea’s dancing filled them with laughter and joy

One morning Elsea woke up as the sun twinkled down

She couldn’t wait to get out and dance for the town!

She swam to the pearl in the town square,

Oh bother, oh dear, The pearl wasn’t there!

Elsea and her friends Neko and Rosie

Set off through the town to have a wee nosy

Under the gates and down every street

No answers were there, so they had a seat

Up ahead was Griffon the salty sea dog

Ambling down the road which turned into a jog

Rosie shouted “hey come quick, he has a note”

Sure enough there was something tied to his throat

“Your pearl is safe, but you must come to find it

Where the water rushes down, sneak a peek behind it”

What does this mean? The friends scratched their heads in confusion

“A ha!” said Elsea who’d drawn the conclusion

The waterfall, over there, on the outskirts of town,

That’s where we’ll find water that rushes down!

They arrived at the pond and carefully crossed

Using logs and large stones covered in moss

To get to the waterfall like the note said

What would they find as they steamed on ahead?

They got to the waterfall and looked in behind

What’s this? I must be out of my mind!

Maxwell the pup was sitting down there

The pearl underneath him, as he shot out a glare

“I sit on the sideline as you sing and dance

Waiting and hoping that I’ll get a chance

To show off my skills, to dance with you all

But you always forget me, because I’m so small

So I decided to strike and steal the pearl

That way NOBODY could shimmy or twirl

I’d have it to myself, So I could practise my moves

Then maybe you’d like me for the way that I groove”

“Oh Max, you’re so silly, we love you to bits!

We’re sorry we made you feel like the pits

Please come back with us, we’ll all dance in a group

‘Max and the Underwater Dancing Troupe’ “

So they ran back to town, with Max and the pearl

The streets were lined with every boy and girl

Who shouted in glee that the pearl had returned

And with it, an important lesson was learned

Max was lonely, and felt left out

All he had to do was give Elsea a shout

She would’ve helped him, and let him join in

Her with a smile, and him with a grin.

Personified Days of The Week

Always an optimist, he dressed to impress. Hair neatly styled, tailored clothes nipped and tucked to create a silhouette of quiet confidence.

She leapt out of bed with her red hair shooting out from her head in excitement. Her eyes were filled with wild possibilities as she tamed her hair into a no nonsense ponytail.

With a smile on her face and a bounce in her step, she skipped out the door ready to attack the day with enthusiasm.

His serious face matched his serious demeanour. He slumped with the weight of the world on his shoulders. So much to do, let so little time.
