5 Things That Make Life Awesome

Week three of maternity leave: I have left my house four times in the last two days so strangers can file through it. I've reorganised a room. And now I'm far too physically spent to do anything else. However, without the stimulation of 'work' I'm at a loose end of how to fill my time in a restful way. Then the writing bug bit again, and boy oh boy, it's one annoying son of a gun that needs to be scratched!!

Alas, I have no burning topic I feel I need to spew my thoughts through my fingers about. I ran through a selection of ideas such as discussing a conference I recently went to, detailing our last eight months of renovations that have finally culminated in a house on the market, or a 'grind my gears' section. Each idea was scratched:

- too teachery

- saving for when I move to a new house

- too negative! So I decided to do a 'Top Five Things That Make My Life Awesome' post.

1. Support Network

Yo, homies - I'm talking about you. I'm incredibly lucky to have an amazing group of people in my circle that are insanely supportive, understand that my resting bitch face is merely surface level, and appreciate (or maybe just put up with) my frank and sometimes confronting ways of expressing myself. You guys are what make life awesome!

2. Hot Chips

Cassie could not have a Top 5 without including these tasty wee things in there. I love hot chips with an insane amount of passion. I have no words to describe how happy deep fried shards of potato make me, and the sheer joy when I smell them cooking. OR when you get the perfect crunch/fluff ratio...

3. Creating

I love creating, making and doing. In any form. I've tried a substantial amount of crafty things, including (but not limited to):

• Dreamcatcher making

• Furniture painting

• Cross stitch

• Knitting

• Sewing

• Cooking

• Renovating

• Building

• Writing

I love how therapeutic it can be, and the satisfaction of coming up with an idea or using inspiration to create something totally different out of random items.

4. The Library A whole building filled with books - what's not to love! Pretty much any book you could ever want to read. And comfy seats to sit on when you're eight months pregnant and tired from walking in from the carpark. And the books! Did I mention the books? Also, shout out to the Goodreads app that helps me choose which books I might like to get out, because sometimes it's just too overwhelming.

5. An Aaron

I won't bore you with the details, but just know that I am most definitely one lucky lady to have snagged this one when I did.

Everyone needs/deserves one of these. Just not my one.

6. Rugby

How truly spectacular is our national game. I love watching rugby in the rain, in the sun, on the tv, and from the middle. In love the unique perspective gained from refereeing. I LOVE IT!
